The TASTE sandwich with famous House Dressing has been an iconic part of the Tidewater food scene for over 40 years. Elegant simplicity has always been our calling card … your choice of meat and cheese, served on our fresh baked French bread with House. In fact, it took nearly 30 years of prodding for us to branch out and offer lettuce and tomato as a topping, and today we proudly offer a whole line of craveable, chef-created signature sandwiches. Yet everything is still made to order. This may mean a short wait every once in a while (feel free to call in your order ahead of time if you are short for time), but we are confident you will taste the difference.
Our commitment to high quality foods does not end with our prepared foods. Our retail shelves are chocked full of exclusively curated foods from artisanal producers, with an emphasis on the fine food and wine made right here in Virginia. We feature farmstead cheese, cured meats, craft beer, wine, and gourmet provisions from chocolate to olive oil. We seek out foods made on family farms and by small producers who are zealous about preparing foods of integrity using traditional methods. We form close relationships with these producers and offer regular tastings to expose our customers to their products and share the story behind them.
It isn’t always easy to find traditionally prepared, full-flavored food from local sources—but when you do, it’s always more delicious. At TASTE we go the extra mile to source better-for-you foods with minimally processed ingredients and to make foods from scratch in-house. Sure, buying it off the shelf would be easier and cheaper, but it definitely wouldn’t taste as incredible. Taste the difference.
